The origins of Iron Falls started as an ongoing story-arc I had planned for an email-themed role-playing game, but alas the game was closed down before we could get to the real fun parts. Around about the same time I started doodling with a prequel of sorts to another story, to be set in a futuristic South Africa. While the initial idea for the story started as a story-arc for a play-by-email simulation, credit has to be given to Barb for being there as a bouncer of ideas that I used when it transformed into its original version and onwards. Barb has helped me evolve as a writer, and for that I owe her my thanks. Also a big thanks to my cousin Dewald, who kept me honest on all things South African, and to Shannon for ensuring my futuristic soldiers nonetheless remained true to the brave men and women who opt to serve their country.
Hope you'll enjoy.Vesta Central started of as a writing exercise that, frankly, took on a life of its own. Nonetheless, I'd like to thank Nigel and Paula for their guiding hand and ensuring that I don't come up with written insanity. Mostly, this site wouldn't be here if it weren't for my brother's support and ongoing encouragement. Equally, a big thank you out to my friends from Sixth Fleet RPG, Mo, Graham, the two Marks, Colin, Chris, Barfly_Slush, Lawrence, Shawn, and an assortment of other individuals who had been alongside me throughout my journey as a writer. My writing wouldn't have carried on without their ongoing support, friendship and encouragement. Last, but not least; thanks to my parents for keeping that coffee coming. | You'll notice that I use "P.S. Mierzejewski" on my covers. It is the penname I currently use for my writing through http://www.equillpublishing.com/, as Piotr Stanislaw Mierzejewski can get a bit too long winded. I'm Polish-born and raised in Dunedin, New Zealand, where I grew up in a culture rich with traditional folklore, tales of heroism and rich with history. Carrying on with my love for a good story, I started painting and drawing as he tried to visualise what I read. Then, aged thirteen, I committed it to words. In May of 2010, I had graduated with a Masters in Social and Community Work from the University of Otago, and a month later saw my first story published through e-Quill Publishing. In my spare time, I enjoys torturing myself at the gym and doodle with the occasional drawing. His other interests are quite varied and include travelling, watching most sports, playing computer and role-play by email games. |
